Support The Hockey Museum from as little as £30 per annum

Contribute to the creation of a world-class museum for hockey and help us to give hockey's history a future

Welcome to The Hockey Museum’s (THM) new Friends fundraising initiative.

circles 4 low resInspired by the togetherness of the 'Hockey Family', the Friends of The Hockey Museum has been conceived to bring together hockey and/or heritage enthusiasts whose support will:

  1. Enable us to deliver a world-class museum and repository for hockey’s heritage
  2. Ensure the longevity of our great project.

Although our current premises at 13 High Street, Woking are an improvement on previous locations, we plan to move to much better new premises in 2020, also in Woking. A wonderful opportunity but one which brings with it long-term, annual financial commitments. We are supported financially by both England Hockey and by the International Hockey Federation but we need to generate additional, reliable annual income streams to realise our ambitions. A large number of annual donations from our Friends will provide such a reliable income stream. Please help us to give hockey’s history a future.

How Will Your Support Make A Difference?

From humble beginnings in 2012, we are on the verge of obtaining formal museum Accreditation from the Arts Council this year. In 2020 THM is planning to move into much larger premises but we need your support to turn this wonderful opportunity into a world-class museum for hockey.

We have ambitious plans but without your support we cannot deliver these. Potential future projects include:

  • The design and delivery of a superb new exhibition space;
  • The design and delivery of a new library and reading room;
  • The continued preservation and conservation of the Museum’s collections;
  • The realisation of a curriculum-focused education programme for school children;
  • The design and delivery of a dedicated education space for school groups and hockey clubs;
  • Increased accessibility to the Museum’s collections through digitisation projects;
  • The continuation of oral history interviews with members of the hockey family across all levels of the sport;
  • Continued research into the history of hockey; and
  • The continued employment of professional staff for the Museum.

We need your support to make all this happen and doing so has never been easier.

You can support The Hockey Museum from as little as £30 per annum – only £2.50 per month!

How To Become A Friend Of The Hockey Museum

We would prefer our Friends to sign up through the online portal PaySubsOnline (which uses the Direct Debit agent GoCardless or PayPal) rather than donating by standing order. Doing so will significantly reduce the administration required to effectively manage subscriptions. THM is a largely volunteer-run, charitable organisation and reducing administration really will make a big difference. That being said, if you are uncomfortable with making online payments we would still be delighted to have you become a Friend by setting up a standing order direct to THM’s bank account.
